Information
1. Accommodation - I use booking.com for all my accommodation needs. It is easy to use and there are a lot of places that have free cancellation option. In Berlin, I stayed at Upper Room Hotel Kurfurstendamm. Located in the suburb of Charlottenburg - Wilmersdorf, it is close proximity to restaurants, supermarket option's, shopping centre and public transport ( Zoologischer Garten being the main train station, however, was a couple of other U-Bahn stations nearby)
I had a single room with an ensuite which was fine for me being a solo traveller.

2. Attractions - Highly recommend purchasing a Welcome Berlin Card.
Not only does it offer 25% - 50% off on some of the most popular attractions, it's also your ticket for all public transport within Berlin and surrounds (optional)
Ticket options - 48 hours, 72 hours, 4 days, 5 days or 6 days.
Tariff area - AB or ABC. AB covers City of Berlin only. ABC covers City of Berlin, Brandenburg Airport and nearby city of Potsdam. Visit the website for further information including pricing and where to purchase the card (I purchased it from the airport at Berlin. Staff were very helpful)

3. Transport - As I mentioned before, when you purchase the Welcome Belin Card, it comes with public transport ticket.
Only needs to be validated once (can be done upon purchase) and this lasts the duration of your trip depending what option you choose (ie. 48 hours to 6 days)
Download the BVG Fahrinfo: route planner to assist you with planning your journey and you can also purchase tickets if you choose not to get the Welcome Berlin Card
